Supporting Essex Businesses

23rd January 2018

Witham MP Priti Patel attended the Essex Skills Roundtable with businesses from across the County on Friday [19 January 2018] at DP World London Gateway. The Skills Roundtable was organised by the Essex Chambers of Commerce and was chance for businesses to discuss with Priti and her colleague Robert Halfon, MP for Harlow and Chair of the Education Select Committee, their employment needs and how they can support skills and training. Priti said:

“Businesses in Essex are leading the country at employing and recruiting and are eager to support training and skills. They want to engage with schools, colleges, universities and the Government to ensure that courses provide people entering the workforce with the high level of skills needed to secure employment.”

“Our economy has historic skills shortages which affects productivity and acts as a drag on our economy. But there are some excellent opportunities to close the skills gap and by taking action we can not only give the economy a boost but help people to advance their careers and earn more.”
