Local Transport

18th January 2018

Witham MP Priti Patel has called for new investment in strategic transport projects in Essex during Transport Questions in the House of Commons today [18 January 2018]. In asking a question to the Secretary of State for Transport, Priti asked for a commitment to support investment in a rail passing loop north of Witham, the widening of the A12, and the upgrading of the A120. In response to the question, the Transport Secretary commented on the progress being made with the A12 widening project, work on the A120 and consideration being given to rail improvements. Priti said:

"The economy in Essex adds over £38 billion to the UK economy and our businesses need better transport infrastructure to create more jobs and growth. Key strategic projects to invest in rail infrastructure, the A12 and the A120 will make a huge difference to our economy and while progress on some projects are being made our County needs more investment."

"I am in regular contact with the Government about strategic transport investment in Essex and will continue campaigning for the delivery in full of these key projects."
