Priti's Experience
Priti has been an active member of the Conservative Party for over 17 years. She strongly believes in putting local people before party politics and has in the past campaigned on a range of issues such as rising crime, anti-social behaviour, to saving local post offices. She has also campaigned against Labour’s never ending tax increases which have forced more and more people on low and fixed incomes into financial hardship.
Priti has been a school governor for an outer London secondary school and she is strong supporter of educational standards, the provision of good vocational opportunities in conjunction with employment opportunities, as well as better special educational needs provision.
As the Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman for the new Witham constituency, Priti is interested in a range of issues that have a direct impact upon local residents. These included:
- law and order, the need for more bobbies on the beat and for sanctions against criminals who commit crime;
- the provision of suitable community based health care facilities in Witham which meet the needs of our local community. For too long Witham’s healthcare needs have been neglected and I will be calling upon Mid Essex Primary Care Trust to do more to invest in the long term needs of the people of Witham;
- greater support for small and medium size businesses. As someone who grew up in a family small business environment, I know of the sacrifices that are made by those who constantly invest in their businesses to help them grow and develop, while at the same time providing much needed employment and services to the local community.
Priti strongly opposes British membership of the Euro and has campaigned for a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty, an EU Constitution in all but name, as well as for a referendum on Britain’s relationship with Europe. She also supports a tough stance on immigration and believes that twelve years of a Labour government has resulted in uncontrolled immigration.
Speaking about the challenge ahead, Priti said:
"The people of the Witham and the neighbouring communities have been badly let down by this Labour Government. As well as highlighting their appalling record I will put forward positive solutions and ideas to make Witham and all its communities a better place to live and work. I want to see a society where people have greater freedom and more opportunity. As your Conservative candidate, I will put the Witham constituency and the interests of local people first, by campaigning on the issues that matter locally. I look forward to being a strong voice for Witham."
