Small Business Saturday

4th December 2017

Witham MP Priti Patel has celebrated the Town’s local businesses at part of Small Business Saturday. Priti visited six local businesses with Witham Chambers of Commerce Chair Tina Townsend

“Small Business Saturday is a wonderful way to celebrate the great contribution that our local businesses make to our economy. Around 80% of local people are employed in small and medium sized enterprises and we should all get behind them and support them. I encourage all residents to do what they can to support the small businesses in this part of Essex which form the backbone of the economy.”

Priti, who is a previous Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Small Shops Group in Parliament and grew up helping her parents to run their small businesses, added:

“Having grown up in a small family business I have always championed the role that small businesses play supporting reductions in the tax burden that they face, campaigning for investment in infrastructure and town centres, and help for them to employ more staff.”

Tina Townsend said:

“As a the chair of the chamber and a small business owner I know only too well how difficult it can be to run a business; sadly this year we have lost a couple of chamber members.  This event is a great way of showcasing that we are here and open; remember when supporting a local business you are helping the put food on the table, clothes on our backs and to run our homes. We thank Priti for all her support in highlighting the small businesses here in the constituency.”

Priti visited: Cabello Hair and Beauty, Visions of Witham Opticians, Bawtre Solicitors, Yaxley Hair, Yaxley Homes, and Prime Appointments.
