School Funding

15th September 2017

Witham’s schools are set to receive a funding injection following the Government’s confirmation of a new, fairer funding system for schools.

Local MP, Priti Patel, has welcomed the Government’s historic reform which will see Witham’s schools receiving additional annual funding according to their individual needs and characteristics.

From April 2018, The Stanway School will receive an additional £275,000 and Templars Academy in Witham will be £115,000 better-off per year. Essex as a whole will be additionally equipped with over £41 million, ensuring education is on a sustainable footing to build on the success of recent years.

Priti commented:

“I care passionately about education and for decades, Witham’s schools have been underfunded. This has damaged their ability to provide the high quality education parents expect and pupils deserve.

The Labour Party has consistently talked down this vital reform and mislead parents and teachers with lies during the General Election over our commitment to education. The fact is, we are delivering on our key election promise which will see every school across Witham receiving a massive funding boost.

Every additional penny the Government is investing is in a brighter future for our children and our schools. I know that parents, pupils, teachers and Governors will join with me to welcome this good news and the Government’s positive direction.”
