New education business centre

8th September 2017

On Friday 8 September 2017, local Head Teacher and National Leader in Education, Mrs Jane Bass, was joined by Witham Town Mayor, Councillor JoAnn Williams, pupils and parents to open the new education business centre in Witham.

Founded in 2013, Connected Learning is a Multi Academy Trust based in Witham. The Trust is recognised both locally and nationally for delivering exceptional education for all children.

The new business centre, located on Cressing Road, will promote the teaching and learning of pupils at Powers Hall Academy, Templars Academy and Silver End with its strong ethos to strive for every student to reach their potential.

Priti commented:

“The new business centre is a fantastic development for the provision of education in Witham.

Parents will be reassured that schools can work together, share knowledge and expertise so teachers can prioritise each pupil’s progress and attainment. This development will mean that more resources will be freed-up and focused on driving up education standards.

This opening is also a celebration of the success of the academies programme which offers schools a greater degree of flexibility in the teaching and learning of pupils. This allows schools to significantly narrow attainment gaps in local communities, whilst also ensuring provision is fit for the future.

I commend Jane for continuing to deliver improvements to Witham’s education and promote the learning achievements of the Town’s children.”

Mrs Jane Bass commented:

“As an Academy Trust, every member of staff is committed to delivering an exceptional level of education. This development allows us to continue to promote high educational standards and outcomes for every pupil and parent.

The new centre will also continue to play a part in the community, offering parenting classes and support to local mums and dads.

We are delighted to welcome Priti to open this event and look forward to engaging with her, and the communities across Witham, to improve the provision of education locally.”

Witham Town Mayor, Councillor JoAnn Williams said:

'The Business Centre is a wonderful addition for education in Witham and surrounding areas.  I was very impressed with both the Centre, the personnel and the ethos of this endeavour.  The MAT Business Centre brings together important functions of many schools such as finance, HR and supply and puts them together in one place under the direction of experienced and dedicated people who can handle them whilst saving money for the schools involved and letting the school personnel get on with educating pupils. I wish Jane Bass and the Board of Trustees the best of luck and salute them for their innovation and forward thinking.'

Mrs Sue Baldwin, Regional Schools Commissioner for the East of England commented:

“The new Centre offers a great opportunity to improve the education outcomes for children and I am delighted that there is a real emphasis on closing the attainment gap. I am looking forward to seeing the Centre make a difference to the community and I wish Jane and her team every success.”
