Minister receives Marks Tey station petition
Local MP Priti Patel presented Transport Minister Theresa Villiers with a 700 signature petition and a further 80 letters supporting Nigel Clark, who runs the coffee and newspaper vending stand at Marks Tey station. Mr Clark's business is threatened by redevelopment work planned under the National Station Improvement Programme and Ms Patel has been campaigning to save this popular business.
The Minister said:
"I would like to thank Priti for raising with me the campaign to save Nigel Clark’s business. I can see the strong levels of support Mr Clark and his business enjoy and will undertake to look into this matter."
Priti Patel MP commented:
“Nigel Clark is strongly supported by hundreds of local commuters and I welcome the Minister’s promise to review this case. It would be a shame if the works planned for Marks Tey station forced Mr Clark’s successful business to close and I will continue to do all I can to help him.”
