Deport EU criminals

6th March 2018

Witham MP Priti Patel has urged the Government to use the Brexit negotiations to secure the deportation of some of the most dangerous EU foreign national offenders in English and Welsh prisons. After asking the Secretary of State for Justice for assurances that departments across Government were working together on this issue Priti said:

“4,000 foreign national offenders from the EU are currently residing in our prisons at a huge cost to taxpayers. Many are dangerous criminals who have been able to abuse free movement rules to come to Britain and harm people and property. As we leave the EU we need to ensure that we can control our borders to protect our country and remove dangerous offenders from Britain.”
